ENCAUSTIC

Tree Series

Florida trees have attracted me for years.  Sea Grapes look like completely different trees each season.  Banyan trees both young and old show in their growth how time has passed.  Now that I am aging,  I feel a kinship to  the trees around me that are also long time observers.

Having found my topic, I then explored the medium and techniques that would best convey my vision to others.  Chinese painters describe flying into and through a landscape.  This approach suited my taking others along with me to see what I am seeing.  Encaustic wax gives the work, texture and effects that I wanted.

Wood Stork Rookery

This next picture is of a wood stork rookery.  I enjoyed doing a lot of detail with leaves and type of plants.  The scene itself is very busy.

Mangroves Await
Fish Guests

Mangrove roots protect shorelines from damaging storms and hurricane winds.  Mangroves also provide homes for many species of fish.
